⁣Facing El Chapo is a 2026 Mexican action crime thriller inspired by the dramatic real-life recapture of notorious drug lord Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán. The story follows federal police officers Arturo Carmona and Héctor Rosales during what appears to be a routine patrol in Sinaloa. Their night suddenly changes when they stop a stolen vehicle and discover that one of the passengers is one of the most wanted criminals in the world.

With cartel forces potentially closing in, the officers find themselves facing enormous pressure, danger, and a life-changing moral decision. El Chapo attempts to use both threats and a massive bribe to secure his freedom, forcing the officers to choose between personal safety and their duty.

Directed by Chava Cartas, the film combines crime, suspense, action, and real historical events. Alfonso Herrera and Noé Hernández lead the cast as the two federal officers, while Héctor Kotsifakis portrays El Chapo.
